Ed McMahon died at the age of 86. He will be remembered as a game show host and TV pitchman for Budweiser beer and the American Family Publisher’s Sweepstakes. I think he will best be remembered as Johnny Carson’s sidekick for 30 years on NBC.
According to Extra Entertainment New Ed McMahon died early Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from many different health problems at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. His wife Pam and many other family members were at his side when he passed. McMahon’s death came after so many years of financial turmoil, and then there was a threatened foreclosure on his home and a horrible fall that resulted in a broken neck. In an interview with Larry King a year ago, he told him that he was battling financial issues. He said “If you spend more money than you make, then you really know what happens.

Ed McMahon left the “Tonight Show” back in 1992, and although that was a while ago he was still in the public eye. He started out by selling vegetable slicers on the Atlantic City, N.J boardwalk, and then landed his first job with Johnny Carson as the announcer on the game show “Who Do You Trust”? In 1957. It has now been four years since Johnny Carson died, but Americans will always remember the phrase “Heeeeeeeeer’s Johnny!” Ed McMahon was the one who always said this phrase at the beginning of the “Tonight Show”. He will also be remembered as Carson’s announcer and comedic partner. He will also be remembered “Star Search”. He will be remembered also “TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes”.
